Rob's Story
Skermosity Ceramics was born out of a lifelong love for art. From a young age, Rob found joy in drawing and painting, which eventually led him to study art in school.
As Rob grew older, he continued to nurture his artistic talents, exploring different mediums and techniques.
A friend passed on an old manual potters wheel and it stood unused for a while in a corner until Rob tried his hand at throwing a pot and was successful first time. Was it a fluke? His second try was also a success and a bowl was thrown. Inspired by those results, Rob was determined to get a kiln and fire his works. A second hand kiln with a programable controller was found for sale in Hull and the deal was made. Ceramic pottery a new hobby and passion.
A few months later during a ceramics workshop Rob discovered this was his true calling. The tactile nature of clay and the endless possibilities of sculpting it into unique creations captivated him. Once back at home more time was spent honing his skills and taking nature as his inspiration through a love of flowers in his garden and wildlife, Rob's style emerged in the flower and animal sculptures he has created.
Today, Skermosity Ceramics stands as a testament to his dedication to the craft and commitment to creating intricate and meaningful pieces that resonate with nature and beauty.
Wendy's Story
Skermosity Glass evolved from an art and crafts hobby using mixed media to create original attractive pieces of work and a desire to try new mediums in which Wendy could explore her creativity further.
Always having a love for drawing and painting, Wendy studied art in school. Together, with Rob they studied 'A' level art at the same secondary school which their artistic experience became a shared foundation in a lifelong love for art.
Wendy's love for creative arts has always played a role in her life. As a primary school teacher she used her talents to pass on artistic skills to her students and further develop their interests in art.
Several years ago. a christmas present of bullseye-glass, grades of frit, stringers and a small kiln allowed her to explore the process of creating fused glass.
Through investigating the process her experiences led to the development of her own style, inspired by her success with wildflower floral designs which have become second nature to Wendy. Her work in fused glass showcases her love for art and nature reflecting seasonal British wildflowers throughout the year.
Wendy continues to explore art through fused glass and mixed media, her delicate but intricate designs fulfil her passion for creating beautiful interesting pieces that compliment the beauty of nature in what has become Skermosity Glass.
We hope you like our ceramic and fused glass designs
